Green Loops

AI-Driven Green Circular Economy for Solar Sustainability and Energy Storage Solutions

The project focuses on recycling electronic waste, in particular decommissioned photovoltaic modules. Its goal is the complete recovery of all constituent elements to develop innovative, sustainable energy systems—among them flexible high-performance PV modules and efficient anodes for lithium‑ion batteries.

A distinctive aspect of “Green Loops” is the use of artificial intelligence to optimize recycling and manufacturing processes, identify new applications for the recovered element combinations, and holistically assess sustainability. Using highly conductive, synthetically produced MXene‑based metamaterials, Green Loops optimizes solar cell design to increase energy efficiency while reducing production costs.

The project not only addresses the growing e‑waste problem and the EU’s raw material needs but also strengthens the circular economy and accelerates the transition to a sustainable future.
